I’m currently reading America’s Women: 400 Years of Dolls, Drudges, Helpmates, and Heroines and I think it’s the most depressing book I’ve ever read. It’s also one of the most captivating, fascinating, enlightening, inspiring books I’ve ever read too. That’s a lot to pin on a 600 page history book, but it’s not a lot to pin on women. We are fascinating, inspiring, incredible, and history has shown we’ve lived as second class citizens. I became a feminist when I started to look around and recognize all the lost opportunities and discouragement women face. I’m marching in spirit today and watching live feed of the event where a pink sea of amazing women and men have come together to have a collective voice. I believe in the power of women, in the power of the women’s movement, and the power of reading as much as possible about past and present issues that affect us all.
